The General Secretariat is the NCFAأ¢â‚¬â„¢s executive body and operational arm.

Headed by the Secretary General, who is also the rapporteur of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee, the General Secretariat functions as the executive body of the NCFA and its operational arm in terms of executing resolutions and recommendations.

The General Secretariat functions through six main units:

  1. The Policy and Planning Unit.
  2. The Childhood Unit.
  3. The Technology and Data Resource Unit.
  4. The Monitoring and Evaluation Unit.
  5. The Communication and Partnership unit.
  6. The Family Protection Program.
  7. The Administrative and Finance Unit.

Tasks and responsibilities of the General Secretariat include, but are not limited to:

  • Executing the decisions of the Board of Trustees and the Executive Committee, including those pertaining to the task forces and ad hoc committees that have received the Boardأ¢â‚¬â„¢s approval.
  • Preparing annual and periodical technical, administrative and financial plans and reports and submitting them to the Executive Committee for approval.
  • Preparing the draft annual budget for the NCFA.
  • Appointing consultative committees and designating consultants, experts and researchers to assist the NCFA in carrying out its functions and duties, and submitting all decisions for final approval.
  • Proposing the organizational chart and employment schedule of the General Secretariat and submitting them to the Executive Committee for their recommendation to the Board of Trustees.
  • Proposing draft regulations for the operation of the NCFA.
  • Providing recommendations on ways to improve the NCFAأ¢â‚¬â„¢s functions and accomplish its objectives, and submitting these recommendations through the Executive Committee for the Board of Trusteesأ¢â‚¬â„¢ final approval.
  • Developing and implementing operational strategies and action plans.
  • Conducting day-to-day operations such as convening meetings, writing progress reports, holding and participating in workshops, etc.
  • Any other tasks or responsibilities entrusted to the Secretariat by the Board of Trustees or the Executive Committee
