Our Mission
To contribute to ensuring a better quality of life for Jordanian families through a national vision that supports the country's development policies and enables all Jordanian families to achieve their optimal aspirations.
Our Role

Under the leadership of Her Majesty Queen Rania, NCFA is an umbrella organization that acts as a support agency by coordinating and facilitating the work of its partners and relevant institutions, which work in, and influence, the field of family affairs. The Council's role can be identified under three main headings:

  • A national policy think-tank
  • A coordinating and monitoring body
  • An advocate
A National Policy Think Tank

The NCFA works with concerned partners to facilitate the development, review and reform of policies, legislation and guidelines through the following tasks:

  • Formulating general policies for the operation of the NCFA and approving programs and plans for implementation, including adopting pilot projects pertaining to its objectives.
  • Presenting recommendations to policy- and decision- makers to set national priorities concerning the affairs of the family and its members, in accordance with the needs of the Jordanian society.
  • Following up on the implementation and updating of childhood-related strategies and plans of action, providing special attention to the protection of child rights.
  • Participating in drafting legislation to provide for family needs and ensure its security and stability.
  • Conducting research and studies, establishing databases related to family affairs and defining relevant indicators for evaluation and monitoring, in order to launch timely, informed, and focused action that improves the quality of life for all Jordanian families.
  • Following up on the country’s progress in accomplishing the goals of international agreements and conventions ratified by Jordan, concerning the family, women, children and youth, such as the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

A Coordinating Body

Working side by side with its partners, and with the presence of the line ministries in its Board of Trustees, the NCFA supports, facilitates, monitors, and evaluates the work of national institutions and ensures harmonization of roles that are in line with the following NCFA responsibilities:

  • Seeking to provide technical assistance and support for agencies concerned with family affairs and developing the human resources needed to improve their work.
  • Cooperating with NGOs to realize NCFA objectives.
  • Following up on reviews and evaluations of programs on family affairs and proposing mechanisms for improving them.
  • Forming task forces and specialized committees of NCFA members and non-members to undertake special assignments or responsibilities delegated to the NCFA.
