Coordination and Monitoring is one of the strategic objectives of the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA). This objective is in line with the Council's work methodology and role as a support agency and a coordinating body to the relevant organizations in the field, and is shared by the Council technical units; the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (MEU), the Policy and Planning Unit (PPU), the Technology and Data Resource Unit (TDRU), the Childhood Unit (CU), the Communication and Partnership Unit (CPU), and the Family Protection Program (FPP).
The NCFA is an umbrella organization that acts as a support agency by coordinating and facilitating the work of its partners and relevant institutions, which work in, and influence, the field of family affairs. To carry out this function, NCFA works to strengthen its policy formulation and advocacy role by establishing effective monitoring and evaluation mechanisms. It does so in close coordination with the line ministries present in its Board of Trustees.
To this end, the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit (MEU) was established to provide support to, monitor, and coordinate between the NCFA and its partners and evaluate programs, strategies, and projects that deal with issues relevant to the family. In doing so, the MEU achieves harmony between the outcomes of the work of the Council and its partners, the inputs of which feed into the policy-making cycle to ensure a conducive environment for the enhancement of the quality of life for the family. Such work is key to the overall realization of the Council strategic mission.
NCFA, and through the technical units, aims at ensuring the implementation of plans and programs, both with partner organizations and within the Council itself, in accordance with the Council's strategic objectives. The MEU has developed a comprehensive monitoring and evaluation system between NCFA and its partners, the outcomes of which will feed into the policy-making cycle, in the form of policy recommendations, as well as identifying new areas in need of engaging on a national scale. The MEU will also design a system to monitor and evaluate the progress of the work of NCFA various activities and provide constructive feedback to enhance the outcomes, while continuously evaluating the impact of such work on the community.
The work and findings of the MEU will feed into the work of the other technical units, particularly the Policy and Planning Unit, the Childhood Unit, the Technology and Data Resource Unit, and the Family Protection Program while also providing support to policy makers working in the field of family issues and policies.
