Policy and Planning

The strategic objective of the Policy and Planning Unit (PPU) is to develop and review policies, legislation and strategies pertaining to the family. Driven by that goal, the PPU guides scientific research and programs towards national priorities to achieve harmonized polices and strategies that are geared towards improving the quality of life of the Jordanian family.

Through the PPU, the National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) works closely with policy makers and all parties concerned with family affairs to fulfill its strategic objective of Policy Formulation and Reform. In essence, the NCFA seeks to assist policy makers in identifying trends and challenges, at their earliest stages, by developing effective reporting and information dissemination mechanisms as well as strong networking with governmental and non-governmental agencies.

The NCFA works to provide opportunities to present findings of up-to-date research on health, economic and social issues/indicators through conducting forums and developing, implementing and evaluating public and private policies and programs. In turn, the PPU contributes to developing an effective planning framework of operations that positions the NCFA’s mandate as the main national body concerned with family-oriented policies and strategies in the country.

PPU Objectives:

  • Developing strategies and plans relevant to priority issues of the Jordanian family in collaboration with concerned governmental and non-governmental agencies.
  • Providing scientific policy-oriented research on all issues affecting the family and the well-being of its members.
  • Assessing and analyzing existing legislation that affect the family and providing recommendations accordingly.
  • Participating in developing legislation to provide for the family’s needs and ensure its security and stability.
  • Advocating for, and creating awareness of, the need for a family-friendly legislative environment.
  • Working with policy makers and concerned institutions to develop effective family-centered policies and plans.
  • Planning for the future development of the Council in collaboration with the various units to ensure proper strategic directives in order to achieve the overall mission of the organization.
