The National Council for Family Affairs aims to improve the quality of life of Jordanian families and acts as a support agency to all entities working in family affairs, in its capacity as the umbrella organization. We coordinate the efforts of all the relevant governmental, non-governmental and private institutions working in the field.
As a national policy think tank, NCFA also works to facilitate the development, review and appropriate reform of policies, legislation, strategies and guidelines to ensure the appropriate socio-economic, legislative and cultural policy environment supportive of the family. Moreover, the Council acts as an advocacy body, advocating for and raising awareness of family-related issues and policies.
Our work, therefore, largely centers upon research and studies, advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns. We also facilitate the development of national plans of action as well as strategies pertaining to family affairs.
Our legal set-up allows us to serve as a convening collaborator to all parties concerned, particularly as our organizational structure includes a Board of Trustees, currently 2l members, presided by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al-Abdullah, representing the different sectors of society- ministries, governmental and non-governmental institutions as well as agencies that are concerned with family affairs and have interest and experience in this field.
Our 2004 members include: the ministries of education, planning, social development, Islamic affairs and health; the Public Security Directorate; the Parliament; local universities; the Department of Statistics; the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development; the Jordanian National Commission for Women and the Jordan River Foundation.
