The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA) has reviewed the Personal Status Laws Sector, within its work on law analysis, as part of its work in policy formulation.
This sector focuses on the following issues:
- Procedures of prevention of travel.
- The definition of marriage.
- The definition of engagement.
- The age of marriage.
- The age difference between the betrothed.
- Alimony estimations.
- Child custody.
The group of laws that were linked to family issues were analyzed whether these laws were in form pertaining to the litigation procedures at the courts that look into the families’ issues or what was agreed to be named civil status issues.
The sector consists of two types:
- Personal Status Matters for Muslim Faith
- Personal Status Matters for Non-Muslim Faith
